JG Ballard

Ballard was born in Shanghai in 1930. In 1941, Ballard and his family were imprisoned by the Japanese (see Empire of the Sun). His first short stories appeared in 1956, his first major novel, The Drowned World, in 1962. A contributor to Michael Moorcock’s SF magazine New Worlds, Ballard was a key player in SF’s “New Wave”. His most recent novel is Kingdom Come.
